1. childbirth classes

image76

We break down the stages of labor and go into detail on different techniques you'll need to get through each stage of labor and after birth!  A hands-on, dynamic and fun class that many coaches and moms enjoy and have many laughs with.  Even if you want an epidural, don't worry this class is still for you!

Recommend taking classes any time after 28 wks of pregnancy.

Group classes or Private sessions possible.

Group classes are only for mom and one coach and usually run between 2.5-3 hrs.  Because we are always promoting water intake, BYO water bottle!  If you are interested in a class, sign up as soon as possible as space is limited.  Must have 3 couples for the class to run.

Private classes are done for only one mom with as many coaches as you need.  Once you register, you will receive a questionnaire so that we can tailor the class to your needs.  Contact us with 3 dates in mind, and we will try our best to choose a date with you!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q.  What is a “Board Certified” Lactation Consultant anyway?

A.  An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is a specialist in breastfeeding with skills to help families from birth through weaning AND

  • has completed a minimum of 2500 hours of practice BEFORE becoming certified
  • had passed a Board Certification exam with a high level of clinical and theoretical knowledge
  • provides evidence-based care
  • adheres to a professional standard of practice and code of ethics

The IBCLC credential is the ONLY official, international credential for those offering breastfeeding lactation care and services.

Q.  When would I need a Lactation Consultant?

A.  Lactation Consultants work with moms on the phone and privately to help assist moms breastfeeding for an assortment of issues i.e. (but not limited to): If Mom Feels:

  • pain in her breasts or nipples
  • dread with putting the baby to her breast
  • uncertain because she had breast surgery (augmentation or reduction)
  • anxious about nursing multiples
  • she wants to breastfeed an adopted baby
  • she wants to restart breastfeeding after she stopped for a while
  • the need for reassurance

OR If the Baby:

  • is colicky, having spit up or reflux
  • is not latching onto the breast consistently
  • is not satisfied after feedings
  • is nursing constantly
  • has lost weight, is not gaining weight, or is gaining weight slowly
  • needs supplements after breastfeeding
  • is frequently crying
  • is premature
  • has special needs (i.e. cleft lip/palate, etc.)

Q. What happens during a private consultation?

A. After a mom and baby health history is obtained, a feeding is observed in the mom’s home with a breast and baby assessment. Pre and post-feeding baby weights may be required, interpretation of the baby’s intake will be discussed and an individualized and concise plan will be developed. An initial visit usually takes approximately 60 minutes.  Most breastfeeding problems can be overcome with patience, determination, and the right kind of assistance and support. Our Board Certified Lactation Consultants (LCs) want to help you continue your nursing goals and make it more enjoyable and successful.

Q. Can I purchase any of the tools used during the assessment?

A. All the items used are first-use unopened items and may be purchased or rented (depending on the item). ten toes is a Medela Retailer for breastfeeding related items.

Q. Do you accept insurance?

A. We are not in-network with any insurance company at this time. We suggest contacting your insurance carrier in advance to see if out-of-network lactation services are covered by your plan, and if so, what is the rate. Reimbursement varies by carrier and plan. We can supply you with a Superbill, or a form/receipt for services rendered upon request. Currently, payment is out of pocket and necessary prior to the consult.

3. infant / child / adult CPR - also, BLS certification or recertification

image78

Having a newborn (or any child for that matter!) in the house can be intimidating. Looking to make sure your family and friends know what to do in the face of an emergency?   Just need an instructor to show you how to approach these emergencies without certification?  Why don’t you HOST a party in your home or your choice of venue and have everyone learn about CPR so that you all have the capabilities of helping the baby if any problems arise? ten toes will come to you with manikins and supply all the information for you to be fully prepared.

Or is your employer asking for your BLS certification card or is it time to recertify?  Either you take the full class with us or do half the class online and show us your skills after you complete your online class.  Whether it’s American Red Cross or American Heart Association, we can certify you.  Just let us know ahead of time.
